Executive Chef - Alejandro Carbajal-Luna

A member of the Fifth Group Restaurants family for eight years, chef Alejandro “Ale” Carbajal-Luna rejoins the Alma Cocina Buckhead team – this time leading the kitchen as executive chef – eager to bring his team player mentality and passion for telling stories through food to the contemporary, Mexican-Latin American favorite. First inspired by his grandmother’s cooking, much of his family works in the restaurant industry, committed to sharing their personalities and creating memories with others through their work.

Chef Ale knew he was destined for hospitality – his first job at Longhorn Steakhouse after moving to the states from San Marcos, Mexico, as a teenager. Prior to joining the Fifth Group team, he spent time at Atlanta’s Empire State South and Ciao Bella, where he refined his technique and culinary talent. He went on to work at the iconic South City Kitchen Midtown before moving to Alma Cocina and helping to open the Buckhead location, followed by taking the helm at The Original El Taco over the last year. Now, back to his roots at Alma Cocina Buckhead, chef Ale is committed to representing Mexican tradition and culture through his creations and working closely with local farmers to celebrate their produce every chance he gets. 

Intertwining Southern ingredients with Mexican flavors, one of his signature Alma dishes is the pork pibil. In his free time, find chef Ale and wife Marie with their little one cheering on the Atlanta United or his stepson, an aspiring soccer player himself.
